Pairing Bluetooth headphones with Apple Watch series 2?

Hoping someone here has some good ideas so I can avoid having to go to the mall/Apple Store!

Bought a series 2 watch on launch day, immediately tried to pair it with the bluetooth headphoens I had (AvierBTE somethings). No luck. Thought maybe I just had bad headphones--but they still pair to my iphone 6s. Bought a pair of Mswift Pow headphones off amazon, and at the same time borrowed a friend's bluetooth headphones that pair with his original Apple watch. Neither my Mswifts nor his headphones will pair with my watch, though both pair with my iphone.

My watch DOES pair with my amazon echo--so I know the bluetooth works.

The watch finds the headphones when in discovery mode, but when I try to pair it gives an error and says it can't pair, check that the device is on, in range, etc.

Has anyone else had problems like this and managed to find a solution?

This same thing happened to me. A few things that helped me:

1) make sure you've synced a playlist to your Apple Watch.

2) select the music app on your Apple Watch. Scroll up to the top of the app and select Watch rather than phone.

3) if your Apple Watch recognizes the Bluetooth device but won't connect, disconnect (forget this device) the Bluetooth earphones from any other device. This was my problem. My earphones were connected to my phone, so the watch wouldn't connect. Once I forgot the device from my phone (under settings, Bluetooth, select earphones and select "forget this device") I was able to connect to them with my watch.

I was also struggling to pair my SkullCandy Method Wireless earphones to my series 2 watch. I followed the instructions and a few variations (making sure I was only using music found on my watch and not stuff from my phone) but was still unsuccessful. I checked to make sure the headphones weren't lemons by pairing them with my iPhone 6 (they worked like a charm). I made sure to get my phone to forget the earphones and tried another time to get them to pair with my watch. Still no luck.

The solution: I turned bluetooth off on my phone and followed apple's pairing instructions to pair the earphones to my watch. IT WORKED! I then turned bluetooth on my phone on again and double checked that the pairing stuck. Still there.

I don't know why the pairing wouldn't work while my watch was connected to my phone but it wouldn't. If you're having pairing issues, try this. Let me know if it works for you too.

I also have a lot of problem with pairing to Apple Watch. I want a BT phone to use on my runs, I don't need those expensive ones, so I'm looking for cheap and relatively good phones.

When I had my Watch Series 1, I happen to buy on Ali a phone called Sillable (D700). It worked flawlesslly. After about 2 years, it's battery died and bought a generic one. This last one, didn't even appear on BT list on Apple Watch to pair with. But it paired with my iPhone (i think the name apears just as 008).

So I bought another on a local site and the same occurred, but the model was ST-002.

I still need a phone like my sillable (U$ 15), but nobody can tell me if the models I find selling on Internet works or not. I'll need to find a store and test locally.

Just bought the new stylish green Jaybirds X3. No issue just turning them on and iPhone 7 recognizes them. However could not get them to pair with my Apple v.2 Watch for running. Until... I held the power button (middle button) down super long, past even the audio confirmation of 'power on - your ear buds are at 70%' . Just turning them on did not pair them with the Apple Watch. Have your Apple Watch open to settings in Bluetooth scanning then turn them on holding the power button for longer than usual past the verbal que and they will magically appear for the first time to sync and go run wires free with your one playlist haha

Hi

Check that you are following the pairing instructions here:

Use Bluetooth accessories with your Apple Watch - Apple Support

It may help to unpair your headphones from your iPhone (or any other device that they may already be paired with) before pairing them to your watch.

It may also help, when trying to pair your headphones with your watch, to move both devices to a different location, away from any other Bluetooth devices that may be active.

Thanks for the recommendations!

I've combed through the official pairing instructions a few times, no luck finding something that works.

I should have said--I have unpaired the headphones from all other bluetooth devices before trying with my watch again. I just walked outside (away from any possible bluetooth device) and tried to pair again. No luck 😟

I have the exact same issue. I put my VTIN Gourami headphones into pairing mode and Bluetooth on the phone sees them but when I try to pair I get an error message saying to move the headphones into range or into pairing mode.

This exact same process works flawlessly with my iPhone 6. I have tried unpairing the phone and then pairing the headphones. i have shut off the phone bluetooth and moved away ... nothing works. So the watch can see the device but cannot complete the pairing. It is definitely something between the watch and the headphones.
